Justine grew up in Florida, where she spent much of her time exploring lake shores and cypress swamps. She earned a bachelor's from Princeton University and a master's in Science, Health, & Environmental Reporting from New York University. She now lives on Australia's Sunshine Coast.
Her favourite stories take her beyond the reach of cell signal— to the forests of Papua New Guinea, remote Pacific Islands, or deep into Australia's deserts — to report on conservation science in action. Justine is especially passionate about wildlife and Australia's many threatened species. Justine's reporting on leatherback tagging was recently featured in the Best Australian Science Writing anthology. She's also won multiple awards from the Outdoor Writer's Association of America for her reporting on forest conservation in Myanmar, wetland restoration in the Riverina, biofluorescent mammals, and more. Justine has also won awards for her essays on urban wildlife and so-called "trash birds." When not working, Justine enjoys traveling off the beaten track in search of wildlife. |
